Celtic Rover
Since returning from Africa I have been lucky to find a few places that can help with the big rebuild of Nelson. The best set up was at GEMM 4*4 near Falkirk who know the truck well as they put a new chassis on it when I first got it. Very kindly George the owner offered to clear a space for me in a side barn and let me work away on the project doing a lot of the simple work with the assistance of his team for the complex stuff, ideal for this project. I am very grateful and they really understand I want to keep as much of the original as possible. Errol who built the original interior and fitted the roof has agreed to do that part of the project once we get the basic truck back on the road.
So the Nelson rebuild project is underway, three days in, the interior is out, wings, roof and sides off, new chassis has arrived. We hope to have it mechanically sound and running again by Christmas, thanks to GEMM 4*4 for giving me a space to work on the strip down and agreeing to help with their expertise on the rebuild, then Errol at Coastline campers will install the roof and the interior. the Land Rover is a big meccano kit so it’s going to be an interesting and educational project for me, by the end I will know every nut and bolt on it !
